Deidre Ruth Photography | The Wyatt Project {Santa Charity}

After starting her photography business in 2009, Deidre saw the impact photography could have on others and wanted to use her gift to help. Feeling a deep connection to several families in her community who had adopted, she created her Honoring Adoption program, where she gifted photography sessions to adoptive families. Over time, the people and stories she encountered began to stir something in her, and in 2014, Beau and Wendy Dial were nearing closure on a three year long adoption process. Deidre recognized a financial need, and after some collaboration, Santa Charity was born.

After the first fundraiser, Santa Charity grew into The Wyatt Project. The Wyatt Project is named after Deidre’s first born, James Wyatt, and the first Santa Charity baby, Ames Wyatt, and exists to provide financial assistance to families seeking to adopt. Each year, our team creates a custom Santa experience for local families with all of the profits benefiting adoptive families. Through our fundraiser, we hope to build community around adoption, inspire people to help, advocate for orphans, and ultimately bring children to their forever home.

Since 2014, our Santa Charity events have raised over $30,000 for five adopting families. Hundreds of families have been introduced to Santa and to the benefiting families over the course of the years, but it all began because of one baby. Our faith guides and fuels our dedication to these efforts and to adoption.

Isaiah 7:14 (NIV) reads, "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel." And, Galatians 4:4-5 (ESV) tells us, "But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons." Nothing better represents the Gospel of Jesus Christ than adoption.

The Wyatt Project’s 4th annual Santa Charity event will be held on December 2nd and 3rd, and we're excited to announce our 2017 benefiting families- the Sellers and the Holmes families!
